#8 Zigging & Zagging with Tom Cranfield

During the past few months I had several meetings with a prospect about a new partnership. Initially, I was excited about the opportunity, but it quickly became clear that this person wasn’t a good fit for me and the business. They consistently showed poor time management, arriving late to our meetings. Their email etiquette was lacking, with delayed responses and unclear communication. During our discussions, they seemed distracted, and kept interrupting. After experiencing this behaviour, I realised this wasn’t someone I wanted to do business with. Respect, integrity, and professionalism are crucial in any partnership, so I walked away from the deal that was potentially worth a couple of hundred thousand dollars. This experience reminded me of the importance of being the kind of person you want to do business with. It goes without saying but I’m going to say it anyway – treat others with the same respect and consideration you expect in return.
